Customer Review: FAIR
LOTS OF NICE FEATURES BUT DON’T TRY CONNECTING A VGA MONITOR TO THIS DVR IF LATER IN THE FUTURE YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE THE TV VIDEO OUTLETS. THIS WILL RENDER THE COMPOSITE OUTLETS USELESS AND TO NEVER WORK AGAIN! I’VE TRY RESETING AND REMOVING THE INTERNAL BATTERY TO TRY TO GET THIS DVR BACK TO ORIGINAL STATE, TO NO AVAIL. IF YOU START OUT USING THE TV OUTLETS AND NEVER CONNECT A VGA MONITOR TO THE UNIT, YOU PROBABLY WOULD NEVER KNOW THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I HAVE TWO OF THESE CVR’S. LOREX TECHINCAL SUPPORT CAN’T HELP, BECAUSE THEY DON’T THINK THERE’S A PROBLEM OR WON’T FESS UP TO IT.

Whether you have an alarm system or not, you may have thought about setting up a spy camera to protect your home from intruders. In most cases, you can legally use a spy cam to protect your premises, as long as it is limited to your property. You can’t use a spy camera to look through your neighbor’s window, at least not legally, but you can put a spy cam outside your own bedroom window to catch anyone (including your neighbor) who might be looking in without your permission. If you want to use a spy camera as part of your security system, you should think about where it should be located, how it should be triggered, and how you will store the recordings. If your neighborhood has a lot of back-door break-ins, for example, you might want to put a spy cam on the back door with a motion sensor to trigger it. You need a trigger so that your spy camera does not run, unattended, all the time. You can’t possibly watch all those surveillance tapes. The camera needs to record when something is happening that you should know about. A motion sensor is good for that. You can get a wireless spy camera and have the video recorded on your computer hard drive; this may be the most sensible option for a home security camera. Then you can watch the footage when you are on your computer in the evening, or copy the video to show to authorities if necessary. A spy camera is not going to keep someone from breaking into your house; an alarm system is more likely to do that. But a spy cam can help you provide the authorities with information so that they can catch the intruder. As a part of your overall security system, a spy camera can be very useful.
